Common questions

How do I start blocking apps?

Tap + on the home screen to add a rule. Choose your distracting apps when prompted, then set a location, schedule, or daily movement goal. You can review your app selection and permissions in Settings.

How does location blocking work?

Choose a place on the map and adjust the zone. “While at a location” blocks apps while you’re inside it. “Until I arrive at” keeps the rule active until you reach your chosen place. Other active rules can still keep apps blocked.

My location rule hasn’t updated. What can I check?

Check location permissions in Carbon Lite and iPhone Settings. Background location detection needs Always access; Precise Location helps with zone accuracy. Check that the selected place and zone match where you want the rule to apply.

Why are my apps still blocked?

Check all active rules on the home screen. Reaching one location or movement goal doesn’t finish your other rules. A blocking schedule, for example, can still be active after you reach a movement target.

How do daily movement goals use Apple Health?

Choose a steps or workout goal and allow Apple Health access. If progress is missing, check permissions and tap Refresh from Apple Health in your goal. Daily goals reset at midnight. Manually entered samples are excluded; workout minutes use completed workouts started today and saved to Apple Health.

Can I block apps on a repeating schedule?

Yes. Set a start time, end time, and the days you want it to repeat. You can also create allowed hours. Review both blocking and allowed-hour rules if your apps are available at an unexpected time.
